J.S. Bach (1685-1750) wrote almost 300 cantatas both sacred and secular. They were written on demand for performances at the principal sunday service in the Lutheran church and for other festivities and celebrations including birthdays, weddings and funerals! 'Sheep May Safely Graze' comes from Cantata No.208 and the original, in the key of Bb major, was scored for solo voice, two flutes and continuo.
