• his opera, orchestra and chamber music is characterised by an especially lyrical musical language and an affinity with the Romantic tradition, newly explored from a contemporary point of view
• studied composition under Diether de la Motte, Hans Werner Henze and Oliver Knussen

Looking Ahead: performances of his new Cello Concerto for soloist Johannes Moser in Luxembourg, Cologne and Toronto (Jan-Mar 2024); new opera Die Jüdin von Toledo after Grillparzer in Dresden, directed by Robert Carsen (from Feb 2024 onwards); WP of his Percussion Concerto in the European Capital of Culture Bodø (24 May) and of his orchestral Brahms companion Vexierbild at the Grand Teton Music Festival (28 June)
