According to the composer, the title means something like remorse. Remorse because the composer, who was very busy with new works in progress, had to put off the project for a long time before she was finally able to complete it.
In contrast to the string instrument, the four instruments of the guitar quartet are tuned differently, which will lead to extremely distinctive sound mixtures.

‘Ravvedimento’ for cello and guitar quartet by Sofia Gubaidulina was written at the request of cellist Ivan Monighetti, who also premiered the piece together with the “gitarrenensemble quasi fantasia” in 2007.
