        Composer's Notes

‘This short piece for 8 cellos has been written as a present for Valentin Berlinski- founder of the Borodin quartet - in connection with his 80- years anniversary and - at the same time -50 - years anniversary of the Borodin quartet itself. So it has nothing to do with 14th of February.
In the last bar of the ‘Ode’ someone from exterior (in Moscow that was me) has to open a bottle of champagne with very loud amplification, so that to emphasize the festive and humoristique context.
The piece has been performed January 2005 in the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory.’ (Alexander Raskatov)
