Composer's Notes
'Conceived and premiered as independent works – Chronos for six cellos, Kairo for cello and percussion – these two movements are now the antagonists of the fourth chamber music piece; here in a version for horn and organ.
Chronos denotes worldly time, which passes inexorably, while Kairos is the blissful moment. While in the first movement the soundscapes are constantly driven forward by the pulse of the metronome, in the subsequent second movement the rhythm dissolves, allowing the sound to settle.' (Johannes X. Schachtner)
