Bote & Bock was founded in Berlin as the music publisher and retailer ‘Ed. Bock & G. Bote’ in 1838, making it one of the oldest music publishers in Germany. When it became part of the Boosey & Hawkes group in 1996, it brought to the catalogue rights in numerous 19th and 20th century classics from the German-speaking world as well as a list of internationally successful contemporary composers.
For decades, the combined Boosey & Hawkes Bote & Bock has been deeply involved in the field of music theatre for young audiences and the publication of ‘suppressed music’ with editions of composers who were murdered, persecuted or driven into exile during the National Socialist era. Bote & Bock is also home to the award-winning Offenbach Edition Keck OEK, which seeks to return Offenbach’s music to its historic sources and has been adopted by conductors and opera companies around the world.
