Sic piano pieces between poetic melancholy and viruosic drive:
Poetic Whispers (2005), Megapolis (2003), Mein Leben (2003, dedicated to Marcel Reich-Ranicki), Remember Me (2013), Hommage à Stravinsky (2015), Ludwig, wann? (2017, dedicated to Susanne Kessel and "250 piano pieces for Beethoven").
Leon Gurvitch (*1979) writes and plays music that is rooted in the classics and assimilates influences from Russian folklore, Oriental and Latin American music, jazz, and klezmer. The album Poetic Whispers brings together six piano pieces that move between poetic melancholy and virtuoso drive, and display different degrees of difficulty. They are aimed at the discerning amateur pianist as well as at the professional who knows no musical boundaries. Keith Jarrett and Igor Stravinsky were the inspirations for the music of the cosmopolitan Leon Gurvitch, who was born in Minsk, Belarus.
