Synopsis
¡Únicamente La Verdad! tells the ripped-from-the-headlines story of Camelia la Tejana, a Mexican drug-smuggling queen who shot and killed her lover in a jealous rage—if, that is, she really existed. The opera, created with Ortiz's brother, video artist Rubén Ortiz Torres, reviews this sensational blend of myth, tabloid, and truth, made popular by the hit Mexican ballad “Contrabando y Traicion” (“Smuggling and Betrayal”).
