Elizabeth Farr (Harpsichord [Suites II and III] and Lute-Harpsichord [Suites I and IV])

A colleague and friend of Lully, Jean-Henry D’Anglebert served as claveciniste in the grand siècle court of Louis XIV, the Sun King.

His single publication, the Pièces de Clavecin of 1689, was disseminated widely and reissued several times.

His music is intricately sophisticated while at the same time serenely beautiful, with four suites, here played on the lute and the lute-harpsichord.

“Elizabeth Farr…. plays this music with a winning lack of fussiness…. The flourishes that abound in these pieces sound alternately charming and sweeping under Ms. Farr’s fingers.”
