“The Birth of an Opera: The Making of Prince of Players” documents the creation of Floyd’s 2016 opera, from conception to premiere. The work has been nominated for a 2021 GRAMMY Award, making Floyd the oldest first-time nominee in GRAMMY history.

Edward Kynaston was the last man to perform women’s roles during England’s Restoration Period. Prince of Players deals with the crises this idolized star experiences when his enormously-successful career is abruptly ended by an edict from Charles II: “No He shall ere again play a She on the British stage.”
