Fun and Excitement
Games is a way of helping young children to see the piano as an object of fun and excitement, to be explored and experimented with.

Confidence at the Keyboard
Each of the volumes emphasises the need to develop confidence at the keyboard from the early stages, through free physical expression by the young beginner.  There is no such thing as a wrong note or incorect rhythm in the academic sense.

Musical Instinct
Young beginners can pile up seemingly disconnected sounds by using hands, elbows and arms, as well as fingers.  If they discover a sound or sounds that particularly arouse their musical instinct, then they will learn to look at how these sounds were produced in order to repeat them.

Graphic Notation
The key to encouraging development of the child's musical awareness lies in the use of graphic as well as traditional notation

Improvisation
The pupil is urged to recognise the sounds in terms of time and space, and then to create unity and continuity through pure improvistaion.
