String Quartet No. 4 'Findings - Sixteen Inventions'

The world premiere of Lera Auerbach's fourth string quartet with the Parker String Quartet took place in Caramoor, USA, on 19 July 2007. The genesis of the work, which bears the title ‘Findings - 16 Inventions’, is unusual. Auerbach reports that she found manuscripts of sheet music in the attic of an old house near the city during one of her frequent visits to Hamburg. She has now worked these handwritten ‘finds’ into sixteen inventions for her new string quartet.
