This was a piece I was asked to write by the Song Company and its directorRoland Peelman for a concert on the theme of mother and child.
After initially thinking of writing a lullaby, I opted for the Latin text Stabat Mater and emphasized the issue of the loss of a child. This was a therapeutic activity for me, writing this piece as I was getting over my son being near death just a while before. The shock still sits and he is still sick.
