In the middle of a river, an island. In the middle of the island, a mountain. On top of the mountain: the carnival of urban connection.
Montréal cirque is a part of a larger piece inspired by Montreal, the greatest city on Earth.
Why compose a circus on the top of Mont Royal?
Designed 150 years ago by Fredrick Law Olmsted, this mountain is a natural space for Montrealers to do what they do best: use public spaces for social pleasure. One of my great joys, as a Montrealer, is strolling through the city and feeling the buzz of people connecting through collective celebration. On Mont Royal, teenagers party late into the night, couples intertwine on romantic walks, and immigrant families have multi-generational picnics. The mountain is a perfect stage for the beautiful circus of Montreal’s social life.
A river, an island, a mountain: and on top, the grand circus of the human drama.
