Starlight (2023) grew from the materialisation of a recurring improvisation that the composer had explored since her teenage years. Built around softly repeated B major scales, the piece creates a mysterious, calm, and meditative atmosphere. Its title reflects both the distant shimmer of starlight, evoked in the work's more ethereal passages, and the immense scale of the stars themselves. Beneath the music's celestial surface lies another important idea: the expressive tension created by two clashing notes.
