Press Reviews

"The cover of the glossy, slimline volume topping the pile of new vocal titles for review announces that this is 'the best guide to your singing voice'. An ambitious claim and patently absurd, but despite my initial scepticism I have started to agree that this is, though hardly 'the best', at least a very useful manual for the amateur singer or student. It forms part of the growing 'Tipbook Series' and provides a succinct but wide-ranging reference on vocal anatomy and health, voice production and the use of microphones, as well as a brief introduction to singing lyrics. The emphasis is marginally on pop and music-theatre styles, and the authors are clearly determined to make this book as accessible as possible to the novice. However, I found lots to interest the classical singer and the more advanced reader too. In the simplest of terms this book clarified certain technical confusions of mine. It acts as a useful dictionary of singer-talk and is a helpful reminder of dos and don'ts without promoting any one school of thought in technical matters."

"This is a cracking good guide for novices and seasoned singing pros alike."
(Classic FM, March 2004)

"If I were a singing teacher, I'd have copies of this book stacked on my piano, ready to hand out to every new student."
