This setting of 'See amid the winter’s snow' was written for Philip Redfern and the choir of St George’s School, Edinburgh, who first performed it in December 2014. The lovely words, which I’ve adapted slightly from the 19th-century carol by Edward Caswall, have been a part of my Christmas celebrations for as long as I can remember, and there are several wonderful tunes associated with the text. In writing this new melody I wanted to explore again the timeless nature of the poetry. This setting should be performed with a gentle forward energy but always with a legato and expressive sound.

Digital purchase includes full score and ensemble parts (string parts may be copied by the purchaser to accommodate the correct number of players). The vocal score (which includes the piano part for this version) is also available on sale.
