Dedicated to Professor Józef Jarzebski, the Concerto was written in 1951. The work is an example of the neoclassical style in the composer's creative output. The first movement Allegro non troppo is constructed upon two themes, with a solo cadenza in the development section. The second, lyrical movement Andante tranquillo is in the ABA1 form. The third movement Vivace is a lively motor-rhythmic rondo. This virtuoso composition of great artistic and didactic values is characterized by a strong emotional charge. It requires virtuosity and great technical skill from the violinist (double stops).
