Luciano Berio's Sequenza for solo flute presents performers with unique interpretative difficulties because of its extreme technical complexity and the musical and intellectual depth of its writing. Berio stated that the ideal performer, in the case of all his Sequenzas for solo instruments, should possess a virtuosity of knowledge.
