In conversation after the premiere of an early work, Rondeaux for guitar, John Williams opined that he found it perplexing that most new solos were collections of miniatures and that he wished composers would write more extended, challenging, single movement works. The critique stuck and the (belated!) result is ‘The Benefit of Hindsight’ - a close and rewarding collaboration with the brilliant young guitarist, Bradley Johnson.
