Based on a poem written by E. Pauline Johnson, The Song My Paddle Sings, was written for the Toronto recitations, and has since become her best known work. Originally nine stanzas long, The Song My Paddle Sings describes a canoe trip of some adventures along an unamed river, and in doing so captures the solitude and magnificence of nature using very powerful imagery. For treble voices in two parts (SA) and flute, with optional recorder.
