The Ave Regina Cailorum ("Hail, Queen of Heavens") is a 12th-century prayer in graceful poetic Latin. It is used during Compline, the eighth and last of the canonical hours of the day of the Roman Catholic Church, from February 2nd, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (when Christ was taken into the temple), until the Wednesday of Holy Week. Therefore, this musical setting would be particularly appropriate during the Lenten season. For treble voices in three parts (SSA).
