There are two actors in the Partita: Mozart's piano, which is heard out in the open, and a harp, which acts as its backlight. A poetic idea emanates from these water-colour acoustics. It traverses three different stages, and in the coda alludes to Mandelstam's quatrain:The sound, gentle and muffled, / Of fruit falling softly from the tree / In the dark forests' quiet echoes, / In never-ending song...
