Czech bassist-composer Vojta Kuchynka (1871-1942) wrote many works for double bass, displaying the possibilities of the solo instrument but always keeping Czech lyricism and folk idioms to the fore. A composition student of Dvorak, Kuchynka writes in a traditional and accessible style combining melodic interest with technical bravura but many of his works remain unpublished. Recital Music are planning to publish a number of these pieces as part of their ongoing 'Heritage Series'.

This edition includes piano accompaniments for both solo and orchestral tunings.
