Composer's Notes
"Frösö was the home town of composer Peterson-Berger in the northern Swedish countryside where he could escape from the noise of busy Stockholm. These six pieces come from the original twenty-one “flowers” (blomster) published in 1896 for the piano. In these pieces we may imagine the composer strolling across the summer fields of this lovely island (Song of Summer), or perhaps we can picture him playing a game of Lawn Tennis. To the Roses is a melodic piece beat played with a beautiful legato. In Congratulations we are invited to a dance with features of the gavotte and musette. At Frösö Church captures the atmosphere and wonderful view from the little church in Frösö, while Rentree is testimony to the composer’s joy at returning to his home town. " - Göran Marcusson
