Tjak! has been inspired by a Balinese musical ceremony long known to world music fans as Ketjak, or The Monkey Chant. Is has adopted many aspects of the Balinese music, including much of the timbre and texture of the music. For treble voices in four parts (SSAA), though it can be performed in any number of ways, with lots of room for improvisation. An exciting and unconventional piece which choirs can turn into their own spectacle to great effect. Enjoy this very unique piece of literature not usually associated with the context of traditional choir repertoire!
