While the music in the arrangements of the other three concertos remained unchanged, Concerto in A-major, TWV 40:204 required some alterations to enable an idiomatic performance on saxophones. Numerous double stops in the first movement had to be reduced to four parts, and the echo-like effect in the descending chords of the strings is imitated by means of dynamic differentiation and articulation. While the second and third movements remained unchanged, double stops in bars 6-8, 25-28 and 48-51 of the last movement Spirituoso were also reduced. The dynamics are mere suggestions, as are all slurs and articulations.
