'The present collection of duets for violin was written with the thought of shaping the musical awareness of young musicians in that difficult area of performance which is chamber music. My aim was not, however, only to develop pupils ear and intellect, but above all to gift them with the pleasure of joint music-making. The duets have picturesque titles intended to contribute positively to violinists imagination. They also differ in length from short, 8-measure pieces accessible even to first-graders, to longer ones which can be performed by junior or senior high school students. For the most part, they are written in ABA1 form. The specially planned and prepared construction provides the opportunity for both the first and the second violin to display their abilities. In all of the pieces presented, each of the performers sometimes carries the leading voice, sometimes the accompaniment. Additionally, at the beginning of the collection, I have placed a Glossary of Musical Expressions (pertaining to dynamics, tempo and expression) which the pupil should utilize by writing in the explanation of a newly-acquired term on the designated (dotted) line beneath the music. On the other hand, as a reward for performing a piece, the pupil can color in the illustrations associated with specific titles, placed beneath the duets. I wish all players joy in using A Little Something: Duets for Violin!'
