The first collector of Irish songs, Edward Bunting (1773–1843) published a three-volume compilation of nearly 300 airs that practically single-handedly rescued Irish music from oblivion. This collection is drawn from the last book of the three-volume set. It contains 151 traditional airs arranged for piano, including the Irish names of the melodies, the composers, and dates of composition.
