• New release of the EUROPAKONZERT Blu-ray Disc series

• The EUROPAKONZERT annually celebrates the founding of the Berlin Philharmonics on 1st May 1882

• Recorded at the Vasa Museum harbours, where a fully intact sailing ship from the 17th century (The Vasa) moors

• The Berlin Philharmonics opened under the baton of Claudio Abbado with Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman and went on with a symphonic fantasia The Tempest by Peter Tschaikovsky and Claude Debussy’s Nocturnes that perfectly matched with the maritime location. The principal work was Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri with the performance of the excellent Swedish Radio Choir and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir
