About
The works on this CD have been composed on the basis of Homer's Iliad. Commisioned by the National Arts Foundation, they were performed at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in the autumn of 1999 as accompaniment to readings of Professor Otto Steen Due's new translation of the Iliad. With their six contributions the composers, all belonging to the elite in Danish electroacustic music, have created six highly original and individual musical commentaries on the famous epic.
Reviews
"The essence of Homer's poetry is the opposition of words and action, and the role of Sydow's piece as choral commentary signifies a structural landmark"(BBC Music Magazine)
"Excellent performance"(BBC Music Magazine)
