This new documentary brings together interview and concert footage from the entirety of Pavarotti’s career.

The tenor’s playful public persona is enjoyably captured in rarely-seen clips from “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson, while other segments reveal his unique insights into his art and heritage.

At the heart of the programme are full, unedited performances of a multitude of hits, including “Celeste Aida” from the Lincoln Centre with James Levine, the famous account of “Donna non vidi mai” dedicated in her presence to Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, in London’s Hyde Park, and “Panis Angelicus” with Sting.

The bonus feature is a complete recital from Barcelona’s Gran Teatre Del Liceu, recorded in 1989 but new to Decca. Accompanied at the piano by erstwhile collaborator Leone Magiera, Pavarotti delights an ecstatic audience with a generous programme of arias and popular songs.
