The British Union Catalogue of Music Periodicals is a listing of music periodicals held in over 200 libraries in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. This second edition gives details of 3,692 items, 1,619 of which did not appear in the first edition published in 1985. This edition also provides more complete information on the holdings of larger libraries such as the British Library and the Bodleian Library in Oxford.

Entries are arranged alphabetically by title of periodical with cross-referencing where a title is known to have changed over the years. ISSNs or other identifiers are given together with full details of the publisher and the place and date of publication, and the current location of the item. The breadth of this survey which covers the whole field from ephemera to scholarly musicological journals makes BUCOMP an essential bibliographic aid to music researchers.
