The present edition, Op. 45, comprising 60 studies, is of great didactic value, already tried out by several generations of teacher-musicians. Owing to their tunefulness they are also enjoyed by students. While Wohlfahrt and other representatives of the older violin school used the traditional order of teaching, passing from 1st position to 3rd and leaving out 2nd , which was probably considered more difficult, the steady and successive teaching of all the positions has been thought advisable in the present edition of the studies. Thus after the 1st position, the 2nd was introduced, choosing those studies from the present opus number, in which the fingering exclusively in this position was used.
