'"Metamorphosis on a Galliard of John Dowland" is based on the Dowland lute piece "Melancholy Galliard". Each movement is constructed employing different motives from the galliard; the galliard is heard in its entirety at the end of the work. The work is dedicated to the Greek guitarist and lutenist Stathis Skandalidis, whose suggestions in the final stages of the composition were gratefully received; the fingering of the composition was also provided by him.'
