New Wave is built from musical materials which are similar to many of the extended harmonies and modal structures found in jazz. The first movement is set in a driving 6/8 rhythm with extensive imitative counterpoint between the saxophone and the piano. The middle movement begins with a short cadenza-like passage from the saxophone leading to transparent ethereal presentation of themes, followed by a heavy, dark section. The final movement gradually builds to a dramatic, optimistic conclusion with an infectious, driving rhythm. Recorded on America´s Millennium Tribute to Adolphe Sax, Volume 1 (AUR CD 3063)
